How to get the most out of Boston.com/Monster

1. Find a job your own way
- Pick a category. You can browse jobs by industry, job title, employer, location (region or town), and by commute.
- Use a keyword. Search by keyword within any of the above pages. For example, "teach*" within the 495 commute page.
- Get specific. You can also use our advanced search form, allowing you to filter your results by categories, locations and more.
- Ready, set, apply. Find something you like? You can either click on the Apply Button on the listing or contact the company yourself through the information listed in the description. Here are more details on applying.
2. Let the job find you
Posting your resume on Boston.com/Monster lets the employers find you. Here are a few good reasons to get posted:- Stay in the game. Even if you're not actively looking for a job, it pays to keep your options open. With more than 20,000 jobs in the greater Boston area on our web site, and new openings constantly in every single field, opportunities for a better job are bound to find you.
- Apply on the fly. Once your resume is uploaded, you will be able to apply for jobs you're interested in quickly and easily. Posting your resume also makes you available for employer and recruiter searches for candidates.
- Show your many sides. You can post several resumes that focus on different skill sets or strengths. For example, you might want to tailor your resume for positions in sales, finance, or technology, in each case emphasizing the appropriate skills.
- Be secure. You can choose to show or hide your contact information, or only show it to employers whose jobs you apply to.
- Get started. There are three ways you can post your resume: using our resume builder, which prompts you to fill in standard fields; cut & paste your resume from another program into a form on Boston.com/Monster, or upload from Word (you'll have the ability to adjust formatting after you upload).
3. We'll do the searching
In addition to job searching at Boston.com/Monster, you can set up job alert emails to be sent as often as you like, or get an RSS feed of the search or job title that you choose.
