Company Description:

Stryker Biotech, a division of Stryker Corporation, is developing new products for bone repair based on the Bone Morphogenetic Protein, recombinant human Osteogenic Protein 1 (OP-1). OP-1 is a naturally occurring human protein that has been demonstrated to contribute significantly to bone repair and regeneration.

Stryker has completed its first pivotal trial with OP-1 to evaluate its use in the repair of nonunion fractures of the tibia. Based on the results of this study, the company filed applications with regulatory agencies in Australia, Canada, Europe, and the United States. Stryker Biotech has now received marketing authorization in Australia, Canada, Europe, and the U.S. based on these applications.

Stryker Biotech's OP-1 based products are being developed for a number of clinical specialties including trauma, spine, oral/maxillofacial, total joint arthroplasty and sports medicine. The long-term goal is to establish a family of skeletal repair products based on OP-1 that will address the needs of a broad range of surgical specialties.
